Baby Basics

Baby Basics is a volunteer-led project supporting new mothers and families who are struggling to meet the financial and practical burden of looking after a new baby. Baby Basics started in Sheffield in the spring of 2009, working with a number of frontline health & social care professionals Baby Basics St Helens has supported hundreds of local families allowing them to welcome baby home.

We also run community pop up events throughout the year, providing free clothes and baby items to families. Follow our social media to learn about these events.

Baby Basics is accessible on referral from a health professional, such as your midwife or GP. You can also be referred by a trusted or professional body, such as social services or your youth group or church leader for example.

Once a referral has been made, we will provide you with a season appropriate bundle of baby clothes, a moses basket and essential baby items, as well as a gift care package for mum.

The basket should be collected and delivered to you by the person who referred you.
You can support Baby Basics with donations of clean, lightly worn baby clothes and items such as nappies, wipes and other essential baby items. We can also take prams and baby furniture, but unfortunately we cannot accept car seats.

Please contact us to ensure we have space to take donations before donating to help us manage our limited space well.
