Project Spotlight: Hope House

Hope House — A Place of Hope and New Beginnings

New Season of Hope

During May, as spring blooms around us, it’s a wonderful time to reflect on new beginnings and the hope that follows even the darkest night. I would like to take a moment to reflect on the incredible work happening at Hope House St Helens Homeless Day Centre.

Every day, our dedicated staff and amazing volunteers continue to be a lifeline for those in our community facing homelessness and hardship.

Sleepout Success!

First, a huge thank you to everyone who took part in and supported our recent Sleepout event. Your generosity of time, spirit, and donations means so much. Together, we raised vital funds and awareness for the growing need in our town — and showed solidarity with those who have no choice but to sleep out every night. It was truly heart warming to see our community come together for such an important cause.

If you would still like to support the team its not too late

Hope House — More Than a Day Centre

At Hope House, we offer so much more than a hot drink and a warm meal. Thanks to our wonderful team, we’re able to provide:

  • Freshly cooked breakfasts and lunches
  • One-to-one support sessions — whether it’s for housing advice, mental health support, or simply a listening ear
  • Access to showers and laundry facilities, giving people the dignity and comfort, we all deserve
  • Regular visits from a hairdresser and foot care specialists, because everyone should have the chance to feel good about themselves
  • Health support services, connecting people with the care they need

Every time I visit Hope House I’m reminded me of the resilience of the human spirit and the power of kindness in action. Whether it’s a volunteer serving breakfast with a smile, a staff member offering practical help, or a supporter standing out in the cold for our Sleepout — together, we are making a difference.

Thank You

To our staff, volunteers, supporters, and partner organisations: thank you. Your compassion and commitment are what make Hope House a place of hope and new beginnings.

If you’d like to get involved, volunteer, or support our work, please do get in touch — because hope is something we build together.

With gratitude,

Angela Metcalfe
